Telegram Mini App: how much does development cost and how it differs from a regular bot

When people come to us with the request “need the development of a Telegram Mini App, tell me the price,” the first honest answer is “it depends.” But this is not an excuse. Mini App is not one product with a fixed price tag, but a format that can accommodate both a simple form for Quote on request and a complex product for Quote on request. The variation is huge, and the only difference is what you build inside. In this article, we will break down what the cost actually consists of, how the Mini App differs from a regular bot in terms of money and timing, and where the budget goes to waste. Without water and without “individual calculation according to the application” - with specific tariffs and an example from the studio’s practice.

Context: in the globall.dev studio we have been developing Telegram bots and Mini App for more than three years, there are 17+ bots in production, and some of them are Mini App. So the numbers below are not from the manual, but from the actual estimates that we issued and closed.

How does Mini App differ from a regular bot?

To talk about price, you must first understand what you are paying for. A regular bot and a Mini App solve different problems, and cost differently precisely because of this.

Regular bot lives in correspondence. It sends messages, shows buttons, guides the user through the scenario: “select a category → click → pay → receive.” The interface consists of text and inline buttons. It’s quick to develop because you don’t have a separate frontend: the entire “layout” is messages that Telegram itself draws.

Telegram Mini App is a full-fledged web application that opens inside Telegram in full screen. It has its own interface, which you draw yourself: a catalog with photos, a basket, filters, a map of the hall, a calculator, a personal account, graphs. Telegram gives him an API - user authorization without a login and password (via initData), access to the design theme, payment button, native buttons at the bottom of the screen. Essentially, this is a site that behaves like a native Telegram application.

Hence the main rule of choice: if the scenario is linear, a bot will suffice, and it’s cheaper; if the user needs to look at, compare, scroll through and select something visually, a Mini App is needed. We have a separate analysis in more detail about the choice itself - Telegram bot or Mini App: what to choose.

Why Mini App is more expensive with the same logic

Let's take the same task - accepting applications with payment. In the form of a bot, this is a dialogue of several messages. In the form of a Mini App, this is already an interface: a screen with a form, state, validation, adaptive layout for different phones and processing of a native payment button. The business logic on the server is similar for both, but the Mini App adds a whole front-end layer, which the bot simply does not have.

Therefore, with comparable logic Mini App is usually 30–60% more expensive than a bot. You pay not for the word “Mini App”, but for an interface that cannot be assembled from buttons: a visual catalog, choosing a place on the diagram, a dashboard, a calculator with instant conversion.

Telegram Mini App development: what makes up the price

The price of Telegram Mini App development is the sum of its understandable parts. When we calculate the estimate, we look at five blocks. The more in each, the higher the total.

  1. Number and complexity of screens. One screen with a form is one thing. Catalog + product card + cart + design + profile + history - these are six screens with their own status and transitions. The frontend is the largest part of the Mini App budget.
  2. Server logic. What is considered on the backend: price calculation, discounts, order statuses, limits, anti-fraud. The more “smart” things happen on the server, the more expensive it is.
  3. Integrations. Each external system is a separate work: acquiring (payment gateway, bank transfers, CryptoPay), CRM (CRM, CRM), Google Sheets, course API, delivery. One integration is a plus to the estimate, five integrations are a noticeable plus.
  4. Admin. For some, notifications in Telegram are enough, for others, a full-fledged panel is needed: management of the catalogue, prices, statuses, users, statistics. The admin panel is actually the second interface.
  5. Infrastructure and reliability. Hosting on a server, domain with HTTPS (Mini App only works over HTTPS), monitoring, backups, error handling Telegram API. We include this in every project by default - but this is real work that is included in the estimate.

Keep in mind separately third-party costs that are not included in development: acquiring commissions, paid APIs (for example, sources of exchange rates), hosting. They are paid directly according to suppliers' tariffs - we never “sew” them into our estimates with a hidden markup.

Tariffs and terms - table

Here's how our rates and deadlines work out. Prices are fixed and included in the contract; payment in stages, the source code is yours from the first day.

Tariff Price Deadline What's inside
Starter Quote on request 5–7 days A simple Mini App or bot: one main script, basic payment, minimum screens. Good for MVP and testing demand.
Business Quote on request 10–14 days Mini App with catalog, cart, profile, payment and admin panel. One or two integrations, monitoring and backups.
Turnkey Quote on request 3–5 weeks A full-fledged product: several integrations, an expanded admin panel, non-standard scripts, thoughtful UX.
Mini App product Quote on request 3–5 weeks+ A complex product with non-trivial logic, high requirements for reliability and load, and fault-tolerant integrations.

The word "from" here is not a marketing ploy - it is the lower limit of the fork. The final figure depends on those five blocks above. For you to see the exact estimate for your task, we only need a description in two paragraphs: what the product is, what screens, what integrations. A full breakdown of tariffs and terms is on the services page.

Real example: crypto exchanger in Mini App

So that the numbers don’t hang in the air, let’s look at a real project - USDT/USD crypto exchanger in Telegram Mini App format. This is a good example, because it shows why the same “exchanger” can cost 40 thousand and 125.

The task was not “a bot that writes a course.” The offline exchange point moved inside Telegram, and the product was required to have reliable numbers and transactions: an error in the course - a direct loss, a missed dirty wallet - a more serious risk. Here's what's inside this Mini App, and why each part adds to the estimate:

  • Exchange interface. The client selects a direction, enters the amount in local currency and immediately sees the total in USDT at the current rate with the margin and personal discount already taken into account. This is the frontend of a Mini App with instant recalculation - something that cannot be assembled in a bot using buttons.
  • Course from 4 sources with reservation. The aggregator polls sources by priority (Rapira → Binance P2P → CoinGecko → CryptoCompare → cache in the database). The failure of one API does not stop the exchange. This is server logic and fault tolerance - a separate significant block.
  • AML wallet verification. Before the transaction, the risk level of the address is determined with a limit of checks per day and a log. Another integration and logic.
  • Referral system. Unique codes, bonuses for transactions of invitees, discounts based on the number of referrals - everything is calculated on its own.
  • Sync with Google Sheets through Service Account: users and requests appear in the table in real time, and in parallel a regular bot with a profile and notifications works.

It is clear that this is not a “Starter” for 15,000. There are several integrations, a fault-tolerant course layer, AML, a referral, an admin panel and a mirror in Sheets - a “Turnkey” / “Mini App” product. If the customer only needed an exchange calculator with one rate source and a request in the chat, it would have been a much more modest budget and time frame. The price has increased exactly as much as the requirements for reliability and number of integrations have increased - and this is normal, transparent logic, and not “because it’s a crypt.”

Where is the money wasted?

Over the past three years, we have seen where Mini App budgets are wasted. Most often like this:

  • Mini App where a bot would be enough. If you have a linear scenario - application, subscription, notifications - you will pay for a beautiful interface on a separate frontend, but it is not needed. This is the most common overpayment.
  • Design for design's sake at the MVP stage. Custom animations and perfect UX on an untested idea - money ahead of the hypothesis. First, launch the MVP in 5-7 days, check the demand, then invest in finishing.
  • “We’ll finish it later” without an estimate. An open scope is an open account. Therefore, we fix the estimate and deadlines in the contract: you know the final figure before the start.
  • Other people's sources to which there is no access. It happens that the customer pays, but the code remains with the contractor - and for each edit you pay again. We have your sources from day one, without any binding.
  • Mini App without monitoring and backups. Cheap development often saves exactly this. Then no one notices the downed service for days. We include monitoring and backups in every project.
The most expensive Mini App is not the one that costs Quote on request, but the one that is not built for the task: you pay for an interface that does not work for results.

Checklist before ordering Mini App development

Before asking for an estimate, run the task through this list - this way you yourself will understand the scale and get an accurate price faster. Answers to seven points are a technical task in its infancy:

  • Do you need a visual interface (catalogue, shopping cart, map, dashboard) - or will a bot with buttons suffice?
  • How many screens does a user actually have? List them by name.
  • What payments: payment gateway, bank transfers, CryptoPay, something else? Subscriptions or one-time?
  • What do we integrate with: CRM, Google Sheets, external APIs, delivery?
  • Do you need an admin panel or are notifications in Telegram sufficient?
  • Is this an MVP to test demand or is it a product for immediate loading?
  • Who owns the sources and is there monitoring? Ask any artist.

With them we issue a fixed estimate for one day. Similar calculations for ordinary bots are in the analysis how much does it cost to develop a Telegram bot?, and if you just need a store, take a look how the store works in Telegram via Mini App.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to develop a Telegram Mini App?

A simple Mini App with one script and payment - Quote on request. With a catalog, cart, profile and admin panel - Quote on request. A full-fledged turnkey product with integrations - Quote on request, a complex Mini App product with non-standard logic and load - Quote on request. The price depends on the number of screens, integrations and server logic, and not on the format itself.

How does Telegram Mini App differ from a regular bot in terms of price?

A regular bot communicates with messages and buttons - it does not have a separate frontend, so it is cheaper. Mini App is a web application inside Telegram with its own interface, state and adaptive layout. With the same business logic, Mini App is usually 30–60% more expensive than a bot, but it provides an interface that cannot be contained in buttons.

How long does it take to develop a Mini App?

MVP with one main scenario - 5-7 days. Mini App with payment, catalog and admin panel - 10–14 days. Complex product with multiple integrations and workload – 3–5 weeks. The terms are fixed in the contract along with the estimate.

When is a Mini App needed, and when is a regular bot enough?

If the scenario is linear - application, subscription, notifications, simple survey - a bot with buttons will suffice, and it’s cheaper. Mini App is needed when there is a visual interface: a catalog with photos and filters, a shopping cart, choosing a place on the diagram, a calculator, a personal account. If the user needs to view, compare and scroll through, this is a Mini App.

What is included in the fixed estimate for Mini App?

Mini App frontend, server logic, database, integrations (payment, CRM, tables), admin, server hosting, monitoring and basic backups. The estimate is fixed in the contract, payment is staged, the sources are yours from the first day. Third-party services (acquiring, paid APIs, hosting) are paid separately according to their tariffs.
